Sunny Afternoon
Chicago Shakespeare Theatre (2025)
"As percussionist Avory, McCabe delivers a jaw-dropping drum solo at the top of the second act that’s pure thunder. - Cate Sullivan, Chicago sun Times
"...a blistering drum solo by Kieran McCabe as Mick Avory, which certainly helps make the case that it wasn’t just the Davies brothers that gave the Kinks their kick." - Kerry Reid, Chicago Reader
"McCabe, in particular, is adept at low-key seething one minute and projecting genuine warmth and affection for his oldest friend the next." -Christine M. Malcom, Talkin Broadway
Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story
the marriott theatre (2023)
“a nicely quirky and understated central turn from Kieran McCabe, who does great justice to this music while also capturing much of Holly’s disarming appeal.” - Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune
“But this production absolutely belongs to Kieran McCabe as Buddy Holly. He carries this show with his signature horn-rimmed glasses, mellow vocals and unequalled musical talents on guitar and percussion. This charismatic, multi-talented young actor/musician is truly the heart and soul of this production. Once he steps onto the Marriott stage he has the audience in the palm of his hand. - Colin Douglas, Chicago Theatre Review
“With scorching guitar skills, an infectious doo-wop voice, and the affable charm of Tom Holland, Kieran McCabe is refreshing, cool, and delightfully fun as Buddy Holly... McCabe is choreographed to use every inch of space on the stage and some in the air to entertain the audience – and entertain he does. I don’t know if the real Buddy Holly ever played guitar behind his back, but McCabe’s Holly absolutely sizzles with guitar dexterity and rockstar showmanship.” - Rikki Lee Travolta
Rock of Ages
Paramount Theatre (2022)
"But it is Kieran McCabe as Drew who will literally knock your socks off and send them flying. He is a mercurial dynamo: he can sing (and what range), he can dance, he plays a mean guitar, he even can roller-skate, and he shows vulnerability and sweetness with DiTola’s Sherrie. McCabe has chemistry on that stage with everyone." -REGINA BELT-DANIELS, Northwest Herald
As You Like It
Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre (2022)
In two separate productions, Kieran played drums for this three hour show (with a music and pro-wrestling pre-show), wrestled as "Heartbreak Harry," and played several characters in the ensemble in this mash-up of Shakespeare and the Beatles, including Jaques de Boys' 11th hour monologue dissolving the conflict. Director: Daryl Cloran.
Verböten
House Theatre of Chicago (2020)
“…a blistering central performance from McCabe, who here does the kind of work that makes the argument that wherever Verböten might go next, McCabe certainly should be along for that ride.” -Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune
“…if this cast were to go into the studio to record a cast album? I would be there to buy the first pressing.” -Kris Vire, Chicago Sun Times
“The opening tune… is a stunner. Performed by Kieran McCabe, the number is simply astonishing, a song with the power to light up your heart and send you scrambling for your lighter.” -Catey Sullivan, Chicago Reader
